WP3: Traceability of bugs between development platforms (excerpt from the project's technical annex)
translated from the french original at DescriptionSousProjet3 An application built out of Open Source components is the result of work of several groups which all use their own forge-like development environments (developers of the bottom building blocks, developers of the software and developers of the multiple distributions). This is true for each version of the application. In this context, it is difficult to know if a bug identified for a version will be fixed up far enough, or down in all the versions. It is also difficult to ensure that a bug fix in a library is applied in all software that use it. At the moment, the bugs propagation is managed manually. This WP will aim at proposing mechanisms of interaction associated to these operations and at allowing traceability of these interactions to help tracking the bugs management by all the interested parties. The proposed mechanisms will be integrated in the industrialisation platform to facilitate interaction between the groups working around the same software.
Goal :
The goal of this workpackage is to develop a synchronisation tool between bug-trackers (bug management and tracking tools) addressing the most commonly used Open Source bugtrackers like Bugzilla, Mantis, Trac and others.
